yea!!!! today morning I had a good long chat with my Dad...He wanted me to go with him to supervise the maintence work of the apartments he owns and has given for rent..
This made me think a level further.I was thinking how different I was from my Grandpa or my appa. My grandpa came from our village and settled in this big city..got a bureaucartic job and was happy with it..He saved every penny he earned and made a fortune by( middle class Indian standards for my father and his siblings) he built houses and gave them for rent..purchased property in prime locations...
My appa too did a little of that He built two houses bougth some appartments and we still live in my mother's modest ancestral property. He doesnt spent as much as me or my sis does..I must say even on Petrol...so is my mom..
But look at me!! I dont have a single penny from my job as savings and I love a carefree life and live on an allowance from my parents at their home..and even when I get a job I dont think...I'll live the way they did..I love them ..I know they do love me soo much back too..mabbe even more than I do love them....
I think its the consumerist mentatily of my generation that need to be curbed to an extend ..but not too much though..I think I need to know and keep the limits..
I thank God for blessing my family sooo very much and I should say I better start living a life thinking of the grace showerd by God on us...I pray HE gives me a wonderful life
God bless all you dear bloggers too

is it?
life styles have changed
today aint yesterday
Yea, life has changed more drastically these last days, either you are well off or you are struggling to make ends meet, its either or either. We should always count our blessings, cause God is so good to each and every one of us.
Hi! I have intended to write you and have gotten busy. I have friends in India. They run the Hindustan Bible Institute. I also have friends that have a few orphanages to care for children that are not wanted, that get kicked out after choosing Christianity and ones they find almost dead beside the road. I have often prayed thankfully that you are free to worship, live for and love Christ.
Yes, it's true, cultural changes during each generation affect how that generation lives, but as christians, the precepts of Christ never change. We will always know how to live no matter what others are doing. Love you.
Don't worry, Thomas. The rest of the story is coming. Thanks for being such a faithful reader! I'll post the next chapter pretty soon.
Jamie
Well....our generation is the post liberalisation generation. Our parents didnt have to worry about Adidas, Nike or Reebok. The choice was made for them "BATA"!
They didnt need to choose between Vanhuesen or Arrow, the good old tailor and Bombay Dyeing was all they needed.
They didnt need to choose betwen Coke or Pepsi. Good old lime juice or Soda was the simple choices they had.
We are in a different boat altogether. More lifestyle choices, more earning capacity, better standards of living and more choices for saving and investing. This era holds a lot of hope but it will be the choices we make that will matter in the end.
Great thought Thomas!
...and God Bless You!! (He certainly has done so richly!)
I still cannot subscribe to the philosophy of spending everything I earn. But that is just me.
Thomas,
Looking forward to your next post. When will you return to the land of "blogdom"?
Jamie :)
